Destination wedding photographer.
Pretty much where ever in the world you’re getting married I can be there for you if you want me to be. Although I’m a UK wedding photographer Ive spent a large part of my working life on the road for a huge variety of events, from international conferences and sporting events ( I spent something like 8 years contracting to various Formula 1 racing teams and attending most of the Grand Prix races in that time) and of course weddings. The key to my success is flexibility as well as taking a relaxed approach to it all along with, at the same time, a liberal sprinkling of preparation for any eventuality. Whether you’re based in the UK as I am and love my work enough to ask me to come with you, or whether you’re based on the other side of the world and want me to come to you (as has been the case a couple of times over the past couple of years), it’s no problem for me if we’re a good fit for each other.
There are some distinct advantages to taking your photographer with you as well. All the pre planning and initial conversations can happen at home, in your timezone with no language barriers. It’s as simple as picking up the phone. Obviously in this wondrous new age of the internet its not a huge problem to communicate across the globe either though, it can be as simple as working out what time is best to call. After the day I’m easily accessible to you as well – although again it’s not terribly hard to reach me from the other side of the globe either. The main thing is that if you find a photographer whose work, approach and ethos resonates with you then you should pick that photographer where ever they happen to be. Those things are by far the most important elements of the decision and certainly trump locations. Finding that photographer whose work resonates with you and whose thoughts and beliefs match yours is the hard part, the rest can be made to work.
There are obvious implications though to be aware of, it’s slightly more expensive although you may be surprised to learn that it’s not a lot more expensive. In my own case the wedding coverage pricing is exactly the same regardless of the location, I simply add on a supplement to cover the the cost of travel and accommodation and possibly a hire car for a couple of days (though I prefer not to hire cars and would try to arrange local travel to and from the venue with you and your guests to save the expense at all where possible). This supplement reflects actual costs, it’s not based on thumb in the air guesswork nor does it have an inbuilt profit margin. I have found on occasion that the total price comes to the same sort of figure as it would have done had my couple hired a photographer local to the venue as well due to different prices in different parts of the world, exchange rates and so on.
So, where ever you are or where ever you’re getting married, if you like my work and think what I do might work for you then talk to me about it. We can almost certainly make it work. Get in touch via my contact page and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
