This image is another of my favourites. It was taken last year at Louisa and David’s wedding at the George Inn in Newton St Phillip, Somerset. In the picture Louisa on the left, her friend and mum are sat at a table in the garden at the George. Louisa has just opened a card the contents causing this reaction – an explosion of laughter, smiles and emotion. looking at this picture I recall that I was no more than about 4 feet away from Louisa, but pretty much un noticed by the group and certainly not diverting their attention away from the thing that was causing the merriment.
There’s the thing for me. I like to get in close and capture these moments where people are just being people, interacting with each other, showing emotion. This is the point of how I try to work. I don’t interfere, or direct, I just watch – looking for these little moments of humour, emotion and humanity. To me this is the way to tell an authentic story of the wedding day.
If you’re getting married and you think you would like the story of your day told in an authentic, relaxed way get in touch, I’d love to talk to you about your plans.
