Award winning wedding photography this is not. If I entered this in a competition I would be laughed out of town. But I love it, in fact it’s one of my favourite images from recent shoots. I’ve spent quite some time with it trying to work out why. What’s wrong with it? Well, Theres some harsh shadows, I haven’t particularly paid attention to any rules of composition, the back ground is cluttered – she has a vase balanced on her head – but still I love it. So why is that? What’s right with it?
Personally I like the dramatic shadow, I like the fact that the couple are so lost in each others eyes that they didn’t see me or if they did they didn’t care. That connection between them is exactly the stuff I’m looking for. Theres connection, emotion, drama, a moment and a story, either the one that happened or the one you want to bring to it, I don’t mind, it’s there.
